Forthcoming Groups

The locally based Tibetan Yoga Centre is a frequent visitor to Trigonos and will be hosting a course over the weekend of 29 and 30 October.

"Tibetan Yoga Centre (TYC) provides a focused and comprehensive programme of traditional study and practice in the yogi lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, presented in a timely manner from the perspective of psychology and neuroscience of meditation. The curriculum of TYC consists of eight courses progressing from preliminary meditations to advanced practices including dream yoga and yoga of pristine awareness. The focus is on mind training and experiential understanding of the practices supported by gentle body yoga."
Buddhist mind training and neuroscience of compassion
29-30 October 2011 at Trigonos
'Compassion is the essence of a healthy and balanced mind. It is the natural antidote to anxiety and anger. In this course compassion is discussed from a unique perspective integrating traditional Buddhist approach with scientific research on changes in mind and brain associated with compassion. The course includes practical training in contemplations and meditations developing compassion in the context of Tibetan Buddhism. Taught by Khenchen Lama Rinpoche, master teacher of Tibetan Buddhism, and Dr. Dusana Dorjee, neuroscientist and teacher of Tibetan Buddhism.'
More information on the Tibetan Yoga centre courses and contacts can be found at www.tibetanyogacentre.org
Details of all courses coming to Trigonos can be seen here.
Photovoltaics
By the new year we will have a 4Kwh photovoltaic array installed on one of our south facing roofs. This is thanks to a loan from Triodos Bank and the introduction of the Feed-In Tariff which makes such an installation financially advantageous as well as ecologically sound. See it next time you visit.
Office Improvements
Our busy office has been in need of a revamp for quite a while now, so in a rare gap between visitors we've taken the opportunity to sort through ancient files, acquire some new furniture and invest in a new carpet..it's a great improvement and we're determined to keep it that way!

Snowdonia ski slope protest will not change closure plan
A SKI slope occupied by protesters in a bid to keep it open will shut unless someone with “deep pockets” stumps up the cash to revamp it.
That was the verdict of mountaineering centre boss Martin Doyle, after 20 youngsters set up tents at Plas-y-Brenin, in Capel Curig, Snowdonia, in protest at the closure of its ski slope.
This protest is now in its third day.
The youngsters have accused the centre, which is a charity, and owners Sport England of betraying their motto of Sport for All.
But yesterday centre chief executive Mr Doyle said despite having sympathy for the young skiers there was no prospect that the decision would…read more
